Marshall Security and Durban North SAPS arrest three after high-speed chase linked to car break-ins
A private security special-ops team and SAPS stopped a fleeing Hyundai i20 fitted with false plates, recovering a remote signal jammer, break-in tools and stolen goods.
Marshall Security's Special Operations Team and Durban North SAPS arrested three suspects in November 2025 after tracking a spike in theft-out-of-motor-vehicle incidents at shopping centres around Gateway, La Lucia and Durban North, the company reported.
After a theft report in La Lucia, officers spotted a matching black Hyundai i20 on Adelaide Tambo Drive. The vehicle's occupants fled at high speed, running red lights and driving recklessly, before being stopped near Broadway in Durban North.
Recovered items included a laptop and laptop bag, car-breaking implements, a remote signal jammer, stolen clothing and various items the suspects could not account for.
The car was fitted with false number plates, with the original plates hidden under the driver's seat.
The case illustrates the remote-jamming methodology behind much of South Africa's parking-lot vehicle crime - and the role of private security special operations teams working alongside SAPS.
