Fidelity takes majority stake in John Smit-led SSG Holdings, lifting group to 69,200 staff
Fidelity's majority acquisition of 9,000-strong SSG Holdings - led by former Springbok captain John Smit - creates a 69,200-employee group across 256+ Southern African locations.
Fidelity Services Group acquired a majority shareholding in SSG Holdings in September 2025, following all requisite regulatory approvals, Business Report reported.
SSG is led by CEO John Smit, the former Springbok captain, and will continue to operate as a Fidelity subsidiary under its own brand with existing leadership. Key SSG shareholders Richmark and Northam Platinum retain significant equity stakes and board representation.
SSG employs close to 9,000 people across 14 locations, providing integrated security, cleaning and hygiene, and facilities management services to mining, commercial, retail, industrial and government clients.
The combined group grows to approximately 69,200 employees across more than 256 locations in Southern Africa.
Fidelity says the deal strengthens its position as a 100% South African-owned, majority black-owned, B-BBEE Level One contributor in integrated security and facilities services.
"Fidelity's diverse expertise will allow us to elevate our services while remaining true to our commitment to service excellence," said Smit.
