SA-founded AURA raises EUR 13.5m Series B to take its emergency response marketplace to the US
AURA's Series B - co-led by Cathay AfricInvest and Partech - funds US expansion for the SA-founded platform that dispatches the nearest vetted armed response or medical responder.
South African-founded security and emergency response platform AURA raised a EUR 13.5 million (about $14.6 million) Series B in May 2025, TechCabal reported. Disrupt Africa reported the round as $15.1 million.
The round was co-led by the Cathay AfricInvest Innovation Fund and Partech, taking AURA's total funding to EUR 21 million, per TechCabal.
AURA's platform connects people in emergencies to the nearest vetted private security and medical responders via smart auto-dispatch and routing technology. TechCabal reports the company has 1.2 million paying subscribers, operating in South Africa, Kenya, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The funding will prioritise expansion into the US market, with a target of operating in nearly 50 countries within two years. AURA plans to embed its technology into phones, wearables and smart devices through partnerships with major tech brands and insurance providers.
South Africa has 46 million mobile users, of which about 20 million fall within AURA's target market, according to TechCabal.
"Our solution democratises access to safety by enabling anyone with a phone to access rapid emergency response at an affordable subscription rate," said founder and CEO Warren Myers.
