Cape Town's Olarm goes fully wireless with Olarm ONE as its app base tops half a million users
The Cape Town smart-security firm behind 500,000+ app users is launching its own wireless alarm ecosystem with long-range HALO radio, dual-SIM 4G and Optex-partnered sensors.
Cape Town-headquartered Olarm has moved from making smart communicators for existing alarm panels to building its own fully wireless alarm ecosystem, Olarm ONE, TechCentral reported in June 2026.
More than half a million people use Olarm's app-based security services, according to the company.
Olarm ONE devices communicate over the company's Olarm HALO long-range wireless technology, designed to cover larger properties. The Olarm HUB supports Wi-Fi, Ethernet and dual 4G mobile networks with a backup battery - built for South African realities such as power cuts, network outages and cable theft.
Olarm has partnered with global sensor manufacturer Optex, wirelessly enabling its detectors to cut false alarms and speed up installation, CEO Mark Slingsby told Engineering News.
The product line now spans Olarm MAX, Olarm PRO and the new Olarm ONE, with integrations for gates, garages and Home Assistant, and AI-powered app reminders that flag when a property has been left disarmed.
Olarm ONE was first announced at Securex 2025 in June 2025.
