Bidvest Protea Coin opened a 12-month security learnership for 2026 through its SASSETA-accredited Gijima Training Academy, with an intake based in Phokeng, Rustenburg that closed on 17 April 2026, careers publication SETA Careers reported.

Entry requirements: age 18-27, a Grade 12 certificate, South African ID, clean criminal record, English literacy, and medical/physical fitness. PSiRA registration is noted as advantageous for applicants.

The article describes Bidvest Protea Coin as the second-largest employer in the South African security industry, with more than 24,000 personnel across nine provinces. The Gijima Training Academy's main campus is located north of Pretoria.

An earlier intake (closing 28 October 2025) offered 30 posts restricted to the John Taolo Gaetsewe District in the Northern Cape, for the NQF Level 3 National Certificate in General Security Practices.
