Solar and battery for security kit
For a camera pole, gate motor or alarm with no mains, or to keep the security running through load-shedding without the grid. Sized for your part of South Africa with the same solar model as SecurityHub's design tool.
Method: panels needed = energy per day ÷ (the region's average peak sun hours × 0.78), where 0.78 covers dirt, heat, wiring and conversion losses (IEC 61724-1 performance ratio). Peak sun hours are annual averages from the public SAURAN and GeoSUN / SolarGIS maps. Battery = the energy for the night (or the longest outage) ÷ the share of the battery you may use: lithium 80%, lead-acid 50%. Charge controller = panel watts ÷ voltage × 1.25. Indicative sizes for planning; an installer should confirm them for the site.
